To Love Yourself Is A Pure Act Of Revolution Today
So start do it now!
Raise your hand if you judge yourself every time you look at your mirror!
There you go. I do too. Every single time. So don’t worry, it’s ok. Except that is not ok.
Social media, advertising, magazine, they all made us feel guilty for our physical aspect.
How many times have you seen a model that was not 1.80m tall and weighted no more than 60 kg? Or did not have hair, nose and eyes perfectly standardized to today’s aesthetic standards? Not so many, I guess. And the few times it has happened the models have received a lot of criticism. Just look at the case of the model hired by Gucci, Armine Harutyunyan.
The companies behind these choices have taken on the power to decide whether we can like ourselves or not.
I look my self in the mirror and see a wrong body, which makes me feel uncomfortable. After two pregnancies and a less toned body, I get discouraged every time I wear something.
I’m letting the distorted images I see on Instagram decide what I can afford to wear and what I can not. When instead I should love myself as I am.
Wrong is not my extra pounds, but the way people think and observe today.
